SERVING OUR MARINES AND OUR COMMUNITY
Welcome to the web site of "The Choctaw Detachment", Detachment #778 of the Marine Corps League. Marine Corps League was incorporated by an act of Congress in 1937. It perpetuates the traditions and spirit of ALL Marines who proudly wear or who have worn the eagle, globe and anchor of the Corps. The mission of the League is to provide an organization where Marines can join together in camaraderie and fellowship for the purpose of preserving the traditions and promoting the interests of theStates Marine Corps. As part of this mission we render aid and assistance to all Marines and former Marines and to their widows and orphans. We also support the community they live in
The members of this Detachment live up to these traditions by supporting the Baton Rouge Area Marines and their families . This includes providing Funeral Honors for fallen Marines. We also help our community by providing educational programs at local schools, participating in patriotic events, volunteering for community projects/events and supporting local charities
Members of this Detachment use this site to keep current with all information of interest to this detachment.  Non-League visitors are welcome to browse our site pages to see what we are involved in.
If you are a MARINE or an FMF Navy Corpsman and considering membership in the Marine Corps League we invite you to fill out a membership application.  WE ARE ALWAYS  LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD MEN AND WOMEN to join our ranks. To become a Member you must have served honorably for at least 90 days. Your current status may be active, reserve, retired, or former active duty Marine or FMF Navy Corpsman. If you don't meet these criteria you can still join as an Associate Member .If you live in Louisiana and are not in the Baton Rouge area please click to find a detachment in your area.

SERVING OUR MARINES AND OUR COMMUNITY

Among other things the Choctaw Detachment regularly volunteers at St. Vincent DePaul homeless shelter and Baton Rouge Soldier Outreach

The Choctaw Detachment assists the local Marine Corps Reserve by collecting toys and donations throughout November nd December.

NOT ACTIVE DURING HEALTH CRISIS
Every Friday the Choctaw Detachment provides free coffee and donuts to the patients and their families at the Baton Rouge Outpatient Clinic on Essen Park Lane. Good fellowship accompanies the food and beverages. It is our goal to lighten the stress the patients and the families might be feeling. In addition we also help as volunteers to free up the staff to give more time to the patients.

The Choxtaw Detachment supports the Local Young Marine Detachment financially and through leadership

The Choctaw Detachment recognizes Boy Scouts who have acheived the status of Eagle Scout by presenting them the Marine Corps League's "Good Citizenship Award" Certificate and a Special Marine Corps League Eagle Patch at the annual Eagle Scouts Awatd dinner.

SERVING OUR MARINES AND OUR COMMUNITY
